Wetherlam, Lake District, UK

Taken on a memorable day in February in a temperature inversion. This occurs in a period of settled high pressure where the colder air sinks into the valleys, leaving warmer conditions on the tops. This brings about the ‘cloud sea’ conditions you see here.

It was an act of faith in the weather forecast as I climbed Swirl How in the dark, hoping to find a scene like this at the top.
