Helvellyn features quite heavily in my winter mountain photography because it tends to be covered in snow even when the majority of Cumbrian fells are not. It also has two exciting ridges to
walk on in these conditions: Striding Edge and this one, Swirral Edge.
The above image is taken early on in the ridge, before the terrain becomes more committing. I wanted to capture the character of the ridge, with the bulk of Helvellyn itself providing a backdrop.
