Fomby Dunes at Dawn, Sefton, UK

Most landscape photographers have a favourite local ‘patch’ that they like to visit regularly. For me, the sand dunes at Formby provide ample photographic opportunities throughout the year and in different lighting conditions.

This particular image was taken shortly after sunrise, where the dunes are lit on their eastern aspect. This provides lighting that adds more depth to the images. The clouds also provide additional interest.

My two Springer Spaniels accompanied me on this trip, and I was lucky to set up a composition and shoot before they trampled all over the sand in the foreground!
