“I became interested in photography for one main reason. It sprang from my passion for hillwalking in the British hills and mountains. Like other mountain photographers, I
wanted to capture what it is that appeals to me about the high places in the UK, and share it with other people: the wide vistas, the terrain underfoot, the ever-changing skies and weather, and the different
qualities of light on the landscape.
While I try to take my mountain shots during first light, or at sunset, interesting shots can be found in the UK any time of the day, and any time of the year. My preferred time to
photograph is the autumn and winter months when the sun is low in the sky. The directional sunlight illuminates the land in a way that is suitable for mountain photography.
When hiking, I carry a Fuji S2 Pro DSLR, a Nikon 18-35mm lens (among others), and a collection of filters including warm-up filters, graduated ND filters and a circular
polariser.
I hope you enjoy viewing the images on this website.”
